Anointing oils

There is a thread running through the Bible from Old to New Testament on anointing oils.

Anoint means – to set apart, dedicated to God, to make holy.

The basis of anointing oil is olive oil which is also a reference to the Holy Spirit.

Fragrance is added as God loves sweet smelling fragrances.

In the time of Jesus and before, a woman’s perfume was her anointing oil.

The Messiah has a fragrance and so do believers.

2 Cor 2:15: “For we are to God the aroma of Christ among those who are being saved and those who are perishing.”

2 Cor 1:21,22: “He anointed us, 22set his seal of ownership on us, and put his Spirit in our hearts”.

We are a holy people and a priesthood to God and should anoint ourselves regularly.
Deuteronomy 28:9: “The LORD will establish you as his holy people, as he promised you on oath, if you keep the commands of the LORD your God and walk in his ways.”

Leviticus 19:2: “Be holy because I, the LORD your God, am holy.”

1 Peter 2:9: “But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people belonging to God, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.”

We are to set ourselves apart daily for the Lord, anointing ourselves every morning and praying scriptures over our minds and hearts and bodies.

Anoint yourself or others during unhappy times like sickness, fear or oppression from the enemy.

Anoint yourself or other with blessings of protection, peace and joy.
