These trees were planted by God. They represent strength and permanence. The cedar oil promotes clarity of mind. David and Solomon used cedar to build their houses and the temple. In Song of Songs cedar wood implies intimacy. In Ps 92:12 the cedar is related to righteousness. The horizontal beam that Jesus was hung from, could possibly have been cedar as well. Cedar oil was used to preserve bodies as well as clothes. It was also required for purification.
Ps.104:16 – The trees of the Lord are well watered, the cedars of Lebanon that he planted.
Song of Songs1:17 – The beams of our house are cedars; our rafters are firs.
Ps.92:12 – The righteous will flourish like palm tree, they will grow like a cedar of Lebanon
Song4:11b –The fragrance of your garments is like that of Lebanon.
The righteous are strong fragrant beams in the house of the Lord, to be continually in an intimate relationship with Him.

Hyssop anointing oil

In Biblical times it was used for purification and to drive evil spirits away. Psalm 51:7 – Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean. It is used to relieve anxiety, fungal infections, wound healing and as an aid in difficult breathing.
The fragrance of the hyssop mixed with the lamb’s blood when the doorposts were painted the evening before the exodus. This speaks of obedience, protection and deliverance. Jesus (lamb), while on the cross (doorpost) and bleeding, was given vinegar/sour wine (blood) on a reed of hyssop. Jesus was obedient to God and so provided protection and deliverance.
Hyssop speaks of total obedience and also sacrifice as well as purification. Numbers19:8 – The priest is to take some cedar wood, hyssop and scarlet wool and throw them onto the burning heifer.
