Pattern for men size.
Yarns: Sock yarns or 3 or 4ply yarns/fingering yarns
Needles: 2.50mm doublepointed needles
Rib: Cast on 60sts. Divide over 4 needles after you have ribbed a row – 15sts per needle x 4. Rib 1×1 or 2×2 or any other choice like moss st for about 10rounds.
Body below thumb: Knit in self patterning yarn for about 30 rounds.
Thumb round: Decide which 2 needles will be for the palm of the hand. On the one glove cast off the first 12sts of the palm by just slipping each st over the next without knitting it. Put the 13th st back onto the lefthand needle. Now use the yarn that is at the beginning of the cast off and cast on 12sts with the thumb method or any loopy method. Continue knitting the round finished. For the second glove cast off the last 12sts of the palm. Also just slip each st over the next until 12 had been cast off. Then cast on immediately with the thumb method. Continue knitting in the round.
Body above the thumb: Knit for about 20 rounds.
Top border: Knit and decrease for 1 round by knitting 2sts and then 2 together all the way round = 45sts. Knit a border for about about 5 rounds in mock garter st (1 round plain, 1 round purl, repeat) or moss or 1×1 rib. Cast off.
Thumb border: pick up the 24sts around the thumb. Divide over the 4 needles = 6sts per needle x 4. Knit a similar border as for the top of the hand, about 5 rounds and cast off.
All done and easy and nice to wear. Amazingly this simple thumb method feels very comfortable on the glove when wearing it.
