The Happy Hooker

by Inge on Oct.03, 2010, under Books, News

This is the stitch and bitch crochet book. Just as good as the knitting handbook. Good to have for beginners and nice as a handbook to refer to for experienced crocheters. Instructions are clear. Nice patterns. Also a fun and practical book to have.

The knitter’s handbook. You can look up probably anything you need to know how to do. The instructions are clear and the matching drawings or photos as well.

This is a fun and yet very practical book to have. Good for beginners and also handy for experienced knitters.

Knitted Babes by Claire Garland

by Inge on Oct.03, 2010, under Books, News

This is such a fun book to have. These dolls are easy to knit. I have adjusted the pattern to knit the dolls in the round and I do icord for the arms and legs. Then of course one starts buying all these cute little hair clips and elastics and little charms to use for necklaces. These dolls are also not just for little pre-schoolers. Teenagers like them too as they are so funky and adorable.

Not my favourate book.

Something interesting I found in the book: The common Roman beliefs about his Olympian gods can be summedf up in four brief statements:

First, they are no better than I am, only stronger;

Second, they can be bribed with sacrifices but they cannot be won over by good works;

Third, they are not much interested in mortals; and

Fourth, there probably aren’t any gods anyway.

A woman’s heart that dances

by Inge on Aug.24, 2010, under Books, News

By Catherine Martin

This is such a delightful book. It is worth having so that you can read it more than once. It is all about how you can dance with the Lord. For those with sore knees – it is not a physical dance. It is about having a relationship with the Lord and giving in to Him to do the leading, the direction, the steps. Just the way she describes this dance, makes one want to say ‘Yes, I want to dance with You!’

Catherine stresses that having quiet time is very important in this relationship. You should set aside a special time for quiet time to dance with the Lord. Keep your quiet time materials like Bible, note book, pens and pencil together. Then you are organized and ready for your appointment. During your appointment with the A Lord you must focus on developing a romance with Him, getting to know Him better and to say ‘yes’ for the dance.

Magte van die duisternis by Evard Huisamen

by Inge on Aug.19, 2010, under Books, News

Reading this book, makes one realize that it is very important to take note of what is going on around one.  Our children are targets. They don’t know or don’t want to know what they let themselves in for when they fool around with things Moms call bad things. Many think Spiritual Warfare is just some gimmicky talk and not for real. Yet, in the Bible it seems to have been real for a long, long time. We read about it very clearly in the book of Daniel. Paul tells us in Ephesians 6 to put our Spiritual Warfare uniform on and fight and it counts for today as well, if not more so. Be alert and pray against the evil with the Sword, which is the Word.
