Basic Child Sweater

Ages about 1,3,5years old
Double knit yarns
3¼ mm needles and 4mm needles
Back
- Cast on 67/72/77 sts with 3¼mm needles.
- Rib 16 rows.
- Increase 3 sts evenly and change to 4mm needles (70/75/80 sts).
- St.st for 55/62/69 rows.
- Decrease 5sts at beginning of next 2 rows (60/65/70 sts).
- St.st for 30/35/40 rows.
- Rib for 5 rows with 4mm needles.
- Cast off loosely.
Front
- Cast on 67/72/77 sts with 3¼mm needles.
- Rib 16 rows.
- Increase 3 sts evenly and change to 4mm needles (70/75/80 sts).
- Sts.st for 55/62/69 rows.
- Decrease 5sts at beginning of next 2 rows (60/65/70sts).
- Sts.st for 15/20/25 rows.
- Divide for neck, knit 23/25/27 sts, cast off 14/15/16 sts, knit 23/25/27 sts.
- Neck edge – decrease 1 st every row at neck edge 2 times (21/23/25 sts)
- Neck edge – decrease 1 st every second row at neck edge 5 times (16/18/20 sts)
- Rib for 5 rows with 4mm needles.
- Cast off loosely.
Sleeves
- Cast on 39/40/41 sts with 3¼mm needles.
- Rib 16 rows.
- Increase 4 sts evenly and change to 4mm needles (43/44/45 sts).
- Increase each end every 5th row till 63/68/73 sts.
- Rib for 5 rows with 4mm needles.
- Cast off loosely.

2010/23 Knitted in double knit yarns and 4mm needles. A really nice pattern and easy knit from Elizabeth Zimmerman’s book, Knitting without Tears.
